Hello,

My name is Stan Buliszyn. I served at MCAS Yuma in  "B" Btry 2nd LAAM Battalion, as a 5923, in the Missile Test Section, from June 1971 - June 1974.

I started a search for some of my 2nd LAAM buddies in 2004 and it grew into the March 2009, 2nd LAAM Bn Reunion, that was held in Yuma, AZ. The Reunion was a great success, but many of us who attended agreed that an organization or site was needed to link, inform and supply HAWK Marines around the country. I hope this site and this association is that link.

                                              Semper Fi!

                                             Stan Buliszyn

While I was Commandant of Ulster Detachment of the Marine Corps League, Sr. Vice Commandant Bode and I had the privilege of awarding my former "B"  Btry 2nd LAAM Bn. Commanding Officer, Capt. John P. Tucker an M1 - Garand Rifle, that he won in our rifle raffle. This picture was taken just a month before Capt. Tucker passed away, on 29 Jan 2009. He was looking forward to seeing some of his men at the 2nd LAAM Bn Reunion in March 2009.

The MCAS Yuma Jump Club used the base SAR helicopter and crew. It was great on weekends before the October 1973 Arab Israeli War. After the war, the Arab oil suppliers placed and oil embargo on sales to the US, to punish us for supporting our ally Israel. Our time was reduced to just a couple hours total.

L-R John Ehrat, myself and I can't remember his name (sorry). We were all from B Btry, in fact, there were about six or seven of us from the battery including Wally Bietsch, Mark VanHorn and I believe Karl Hart too?

2nd LAAM Bn was deployed to Vandenburg AFB in Oct 1973 for a FIREX, when the Arab Israeli War started, and President Nixon placed our troops at DefCon III alert for possible deployment, after the Russians threatened to send troops into the region.
